Baby Parasol Afghan

Pattern: Sarah James: CH509
Seed Stitch Border, surrounding a lacy, parasol-shapped yarnover pattern.

Yarn: Araucania Nature Wool #36
Blue Varigated Worsted Wool

Needles: #10 circulars

Story: I originally began this project back in March, to make for a friend’s wedding in May. I flew through it the first two weeks, but eventually, I dreaded working on it because it reminded me of the wedding (it was my first friend marriage experience!), so I avoided it for a while. Now that the wedding has come and gone, I am brave enough to pick it up again so as not to waste the very beautiful parttern and pretty yarn!

This is my first experience of using circular needles, Yarn Overs, stitch makers, pattern sequences, and lacy techniques. (whew!) I love it, even if it is slightly complicated. Eventually, I managed to almost memorize the sequences!

Update #1 5 Aug 2005

After several months…..6 repeats through, of 18. I’m noticing some pretty bad pooling in the seed stitch border, but other than that, I’m very happy with the yarn choice.

And now some detail of the lacey part (though the color is slightly off)

Update #2 9 Aug 2005

So this project has become an Andromeda….mainly to make room for my newest project, but also because all of the difficult parts of this project have now just become repitious. Of course, this is probably still a while from completion, but it’s not hard anymore!

Update #3 7 Sep 2005

A couple of weeks ago, I did another repeat, so I’m up to 7 now!
